Aarthi Mahalingam is a Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher currently based in San Diego, California. Her journey in Bharatanatyam commenced at the age of six, under the tutelage of Mrs. Madhavi Chandrasekar in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, India. She marked a significant milestone in her training by performing her Arangetram at the age of fifteen. At eighteen, Aarthi Mahalingam furthered her classical dance education with Dr. Srividhya Sundaresan, culminating in her Nattuvangam Arangetram at twenty-one. She continues to seek mentorship and learn from Dr. Srividhya Sundaresan. Throughout her career, Aarthi Mahalingam has showcased her artistry through numerous solo and group performances across South India. Her performance venues include esteemed locations such as Narada Gana Sabha in Chennai, R.R. Sabha in Trichy, Rockfort Temple in Trichy, Tirumalai Naickkar Mahal in Madurai, Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, and Natarajar Temple in Chidambaram. Under the guidance of Mrs. Madhavi Chandrasekar, she also undertook pivotal roles, portraying characters like Andal, Devi, and Valli in various dance ballets. Currently, Aarthi Mahalingam resides in the Del Sur neighborhood of San Diego, CA, where she is dedicated to teaching Bharatanatyam to individuals interested in learning and preserving the rich cultural heritage of this classical Indian dance form.
