Abhinav Shankar Mishra is a young and aspiring Kathak dancer born in London, UK, in 2002, carrying a rich family legacy of over 200 years in Hindustani classical dance and music from Benaras. He began his Kathak training at the age of four under the tutelage of his esteemed parents, Dr. Abhay Shankar Mishra and Smt. Kakoli Shankar Mishra, both revered Kathak maestros. His extensive training encompasses all three major gharanas of Kathak—Lucknow, Jaipur, and Benaras—showcasing his versatility and comprehensive understanding of the art form. Beyond Kathak, Abhinav possesses a profound knowledge of Tabla and has studied Mridangam under Sri M. Balachandar. He is a resident Kathak teacher at The Bhavan, London, where he passionately shares his expertise, having started teaching at the age of 19, approximately in 2022. In July 2024, he achieved his Rang Manch Pravesh, marking his formal debut. He has also completed a Post Diploma and a Diploma in Performing for Kathak. Abhinav has performed in various countries, including England, Scotland, America, India, and Kenya. He also holds a BA in Production and Technical Theatre for Stage and Screen from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA), utilizing his skills in stage management, lighting design, and sound engineering to enhance his family's artistic endeavors. While born and raised in London, he currently resides in New Delhi, India, with his parents. He is dedicated to preserving and evolving Kathak, aiming to elevate the art form globally while honoring his family's tradition.
