🪔 About
Abirami Eswar is a Kathak dancer, teacher, and choreographer based in London, UK. She is a senior disciple of Guru Padmashri Pratap Pawar MBE, under whom she has trained for over ten years, specializing in the Lucknow gharana. This style of Kathak emphasizes grace and style combined with speed and complexity. While she maintains the authenticity of traditional Kathak as a solo artist, her performances with other artists and leading companies in the UK and internationally demonstrate her ability to gracefully blend her dance with other art forms. Her dedication to Kathak and the performing arts was recognized in 2019 when she was named one of the UK's "40 under 40 South Asian Artists" by Akademi. Abirami teaches Kathak to students of all ages across England and in the UAE, including at the Upahaar School of Dance in London. She is also a freelance artist who collaborates with various dance companies and independent choreographers. In 2026, she performed in "Space in Between" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a production conceived and directed by Oxana Banshikova, which explored themes through a blend of Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and contemporary narrative. Awards & Honours: 40 under 40 South Asian Artists (2019).
