Abirami Namasivayam commenced her Bharatanatyam training at the age of five under the tutelage of Smt Pushkala Gopal and Sri Unnikrishnan (Mudralaya). She staged her Arangetram in 2003. Throughout her career, she has performed in numerous shows, including 'Arangam,' 'Return of the Spring,' the Queen's Jubilee celebrations, the Trafalgar Square Diwali Show, and the Parliament – Art Festival. Namasivayam has also conducted workshops in India alongside her Guru and has performed across Europe, Canada, and Australia. She has collaborated with prominent artists such as Savitri Jaganath Rao, Mavin Khoo, Priyadharshini Govind, Prof. Chandrasekhar, Rajkumar Bharathi, and Shane Shambhu. Beyond traditional performances, Abirami choreographs and performs pieces for university shows and competitions, often focusing on contemporary themes to raise awareness about pertinent issues. Her creative work has been showcased in her production, 'Uravugal – our Kith and Kin.' As of November 2012, she was also a 4th-year Medical student at King's College London and is currently listed as a Consultant at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
