Aishwarya Roshan is a professional Bharatanatyam dancer based in Vancouver, Canada, known for her dedication to both classical Indian dance and her academic pursuits in medicine. She began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of five, initially under the guidance of Smt. Sundari Ramesh. In 2012, she joined the Jai Govinda Dance Academy, where she continued her rigorous training. Roshan completed her Arangetram, a debut solo performance, in 2014 under the tutelage of her guru, Jai Govinda, whom she credits for encouraging her professional journey. In 2018, Roshan presented her first full-length professional show titled 'Satya: The Ultimate Reality' at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby. The production, choreographed by Jai Govinda, explored themes of truth and reality, demonstrating her aspiration to use Bharatanatyam as a platform for social commentary and to influence diverse audiences. Beyond her performances, Aishwarya Roshan is also a co-founder of Asta Alliance, a non-profit organization established to promote awareness of Indian classical dance traditions through community engagement, including workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and performances. The organization's name, 'Asta,' signifies the eight classical Indian dance forms. Alongside her dance career, Roshan is an accomplished academic, pursuing an MD Undergraduate Program at the University of British Columbia (UBC), which she commenced in 2018. She is also recognized as an environmentalist, social entrepreneur, and passionate volunteer, having founded initiatives like Vancouver's Largest Clothing Swap. Her multifaceted achievements have earned her several accolades, reflecting her commitment to both her artistic and community endeavors.
