🪔 About

Akhila Sasidharan Nair is an Indian classical dancer and former actress known for her proficiency in Bharatanatyam and Kathak. Born in Calicut, Kerala, and raised in the Middle East, she received her early education in Gulf countries and at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Calicut. She was active in co-curricular activities, including music, dance, drama, and elocution, and also excelled academically. Her journey in dance began with training in Bharatanatyam. She gained early recognition in the dance world as the runner-up in the 2007 Vodafone Thakadhimi, a dance reality show aired on Asianet. Following this, she also anchored the music reality show "Munch Star Singer Junior" on Asianet. Akhila later expanded her classical repertoire by training extensively in Kathak. She is a disciple (shagird) of renowned Kathak guru Uma Dogra, under whom she performed her first solo performance at Pallotsava Mysuru. Beyond her dance career, Akhila Sasidharan Nair also ventured into acting, making her debut in the 2010 Malayalam film "Kaaryasthan" alongside Dileep, which became a commercial success. She also appeared in "Teja Bhai and Family" with Prithviraj. Despite a promising start in cinema, she clarified that her absence from the screen was due to her active involvement in other artistic pursuits, including dance. She spent five and a half years in Mumbai, continuing her artistic journey. Akhila remains active in the classical dance scene, with performances in both Kathak and Bharatanatyam showcased on her social media platforms. Awards & Honours: Vodafone Thakadhimi runner-up (2007).
