She is the daughter of renowned Odissi Guru Aloka Panikar, under whom she also received her training. Based in Delhi, Ambikaa Paniker plays a crucial role in continuing her mother's legacy, actively aiding her in teaching Odissi. She is recognized as a "renowned Odissi exponent". Her dedication to the art form extends to her contributions to dance scholarship; she assisted in providing captions for hand and body positions for "The Dance Orissi," a significant book on the history and development of Odissi by Mohan Khokar and Ashish Khokar.
