🪔 About

Amit Banerjee is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and choreographer, primarily based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His foundational training in Bharatanatyam commenced under the tutelage of Sri Rajdeep Banerjee, an Indian National Scholarship holder, and was further honed with Srimati Kirti Ramgopal in Bangalore, India. He also received early instruction from the late Guru Runu Biswas and at the CTG Shilpakala Academy in Bangladesh. Banerjee pursued formal academic qualifications in dance, earning a first-class Bachelor of Arts degree in Bharatanatyam in 2008, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Bharatanatyam Dance from Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata, India, in 2010. His professional career includes serving as a Demonstrator at the Department of Theater and Performing Studies, University of Dhaka, since 2016, where he was promoted to Senior Demonstrator on June 28, 2020. In 2017, he established Kaya Ashram, a dedicated Bharatanatyam dance school, on October 6, 2017, with the aim of imparting the intricate techniques and expressive vocabulary of this classical art form. Banerjee has graced numerous prestigious stages, showcasing his artistry at significant cultural events. His performances include the Khajuraho Dance Festival in 2017, the Bengal Classical Music Festival in Dhaka in both 2014 and 2017, and the 28th Shantala Nritya Vaibhava in Bangalore in 2016. He also performed at the Uday Shankar Dance Festival in 2008 and the 'Stars of Tomorrow' event in Kolkata in 2009. Additionally, he had the honor of performing Bharatanatyam at the Delhi IIC center, an event organized by SHADHONA, a prominent cultural institution in Bangladesh and South Asia.
