Ananya Ravikumar is an emerging Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam. She made her Bharatanatyam debut, known as an arangetram, on January 4, 2020, at the Dhwani auditorium in Kundalahalli, Bangalore. Her performance, presented by Natyalahiri, Bangalore, was noted for its vivacious quality, technical perfection, and natural command over expressional dancing. Ananya Ravikumar has been a dedicated disciple of Guru Mamatha Karanth, the accomplished Bharatanatyam exponent and mentor who heads the Natyalahiri Dance Academy, for over a decade. Her training under Guru Mamatha Karanth has provided her with a strong foundation in the art form. In addition to Bharatanatyam, Ananya has also expanded her classical arts education by learning Carnatic vocal music from Savitha Kartik of Parampara Creative Arts Foundation and Mohiniattam from Vineeta Suresh of Mayura Dance Academy. During her debut performance, Ananya showcased a diverse repertoire. After an invocatory Pushpanjali and Shiva Stuti, she portrayed the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva with varied 'karanas' and 'akash charis'. A notable aspect of her performance was her rendition of the popular Malayalam lullaby “Omana Thingal Kidavo, Nalla Komala Tamara Poo vo” by poet Irayimman Thampi, which incorporated 'Vatsalya Bhava' to depict the unique bond between a mother and child. She concluded her performance with an intricate Thillana and an homage to Lord Ayyapa. She received orchestral support from Mamatha Karanth (nattuvangam), Srivatsa (vocal), Narayana Swamy (mridangam), Jayaraman (flute), Sumarani (sitar), and Prasanna Kumar (manjira, morsing, and rhythm pad).
