🪔 About

Anjali Das is a Bharatanatyam dancer and teaching assistant based in Cambridge, UK. Her journey in Bharatanatyam commenced at a very young age in Delhi, India, where she underwent ten years of rigorous training under the tutelage of esteemed Gurus Smt. Gauri Sitaraman, Smt. Asha Muralidharan, and Smt. Priya Venkataraman. After this foundational period, Anjali took a 24-year break from serious dance practice. She reignited her passion for the art form and returned to intensive training with Guru Krishna Zivraj-Nair at Sanskruti, a multi-award-winning school of Indian Dance and Music in Cambridge, UK. Anjali has been an active student and performer with Sanskruti since approximately 2020. Currently, Anjali serves as a Bharatanatyam Teaching Assistant at Sanskruti, an institution dedicated to inspiring, educating, and engaging individuals in South Asian art forms and culture. She continues to deepen her understanding and technique by learning Natyashastra techniques as part of her ongoing training with Guru Krishna Zivraj-Nair. Demonstrating her commitment to formal qualifications, Anjali has successfully completed her ISTD Grade 3 and is actively working towards achieving ISTD vocational qualifications in Bharatanatyam. A significant highlight in her performing career was her return to the stage in 2017 for "Shakti" at Cambridge Junction, an event made particularly memorable as she shared the stage with her daughter for the first time. Beyond this, Anjali is a regular performer at various local cultural events and festivals, including the Cambridge Big Weekend Festivals, Cambridge Asian Mela, and community Diwali celebrations. Her performances also extend to religious and cultural gatherings, such as the Mahashivratri celebrations at London's Mahalakshmi Temple.
