🪔 About

Anne Dietrich, born in Eulitz, Saxony, former East Germany, embarked on her dance journey at age four with classical ballet, later exploring contemporary dance, piano, singing, and music notation. In 2005, at 24, she received a scholarship to study Mohiniyattam at the prestigious Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed to be University for Art and Culture. She underwent rigorous training under Prof. Kalamandalam Leelamma at Kerala Kalamandalam. Dietrich further honed her Mohiniyattam skills with Padmashree Bharati Shivaji at the Centre for Mohiniyattam in New Delhi and continued her studies at Lasya Akademi under Pallavi Krishnan since 2010. Demonstrating her versatility, she has also been receiving intensive training in the North Indian classical dance style of Kathak under Guru Smt. Geetanjali Lal in Delhi since 2009. Since 2018, Anne Dietrich has been a lecturer at India's National School of Drama (NSD) in Delhi, contributing to the training of future artists. In Germany, she co-founded Tanzart with Jana Schmück in 2013, a renowned center for contemporary dance that also became Germany's largest Bollywood ensemble. She is also a co-founder of Dresden's Yenidze Theater (2021) and the founder of the German-Indian artist collectives Prateeksha and Atmadhvani. As the artistic director of Prospect Dance Company, she actively develops her unique contemporary style, blending elements of Mohiniyattam and Kathak. Her contributions to dance have been recognized with the Denkzeit-Stipendium from the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen in 2020 for her research comparing Indian and European dance.
