Anwesha Dutta is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, serving as the artistic director and founder of the Nava Nritya Dance Academy in Philadelphia, USA, which she established in 2004. Her extensive training in Indian classical dance includes Bharatanatyam and the contemporary dance form Navanritya, under the tutelage of the late Gurus Dr. Manjushree Chaki-Sircar and Ranjabati Sircar of Calcutta, both recipients of the Sangeet Natak Academy Award. Dutta is also proficient in various creative, modern, and folk dance styles. Complementing her dance expertise, she holds a Sangeet Visharad degree in North Indian Classical Music and was a child artist for All India Radio. Throughout her career, Anwesha Dutta has performed extensively across India and the United States, gracing prestigious venues such as the Philadelphia Art Museum, Wells Fargo Center, US Mint, and Please Touch Museum. Her academy, Nava Nritya Dance Academy, is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Beyond her artistic endeavors, Dutta is a senior technology executive in the healthcare sector, specializing in digital transformation and health equity, and holds a position as a Managing Director at Deloitte Consulting. Her professional and artistic achievements were recognized when she was honored as a minority business leader by the Philadelphia Business Journal in 2016. Dutta is also the founder of the Ray of Hope International Foundation, a charitable organization, and her dance academy has successfully raised over $450,000 for various charitable causes. The Nava Nritya Dance Academy has gained media attention, being featured in a WHYY documentary on Bharatanatyam and a PwC video showcasing cultural diversity. Her daughter, Nishitha Dutta, has also trained under her and performed her arangetram in 2019.
