Aparajita Sarma is a dedicated Bharatanatyam performer, choreographer, and teacher, and the daughter and disciple of the renowned Guru Smt. Kanaka Sudhakar. She has been actively practicing and performing Bharatanatyam for 25 years under her guru's tutelage. Academically accomplished, Sarma holds an MA in Bharatanatyam from Khairagarh University and an Alankar from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Her early talent was recognized with scholarships from CCRT and Sahitya Kala Parishad, and she is a Doordarshan Graded artiste. Sarma's extensive performing career includes over 500 Bharatanatyam performances both in India and internationally, with tours spanning Africa, Europe, China, Japan, Russia, Indonesia, Oman, and Nepal. She has graced prestigious stages at events such as the Delhi International Arts Festival, International Ladakh Festival, Sangeet Natak Akademi Festival Dehradun, and the International Bali Festival, among others. Her international experience also includes serving with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in Bali, Indonesia, as a Bharatanatyam Artiste for over a year. As a choreographer, Aparajita Sarma has created dance pieces that have garnered national recognition. Her debut production, "Mrigtrishna," an avant-garde collaboration with contemporary artiste Pritpal Singh, received significant attention. Other notable choreographic works include "Faith" and "Kashmakash." She is also the curator of 'INRADHANUSH DILLI - A NATIONAL FESIVAL OF ARTS,' an event she has been organizing for the past decade. Currently, Sarma serves as the manager and senior faculty of Nrityabharati, the esteemed training wing of SUNAINA. Nrityabharati, established in 1987 by her mother Guru Kanaka Sudhakar, has trained over a thousand students in Bharatanatyam. Through SUNAINA, a non-profit organization founded in 1994, Sarma is also involved in research on the therapeutic values of Indian Classical Dances via its research wing, Kala Khoj.
