Ashmita Karmakar is an acclaimed Odissi dancer recognized for her innovative approach to choreography and her specialization in Indian Folk dance traditions. In 2014, she was honored with the 'Odissi Pratibha' award, recognizing her as one of the top ten Odissi dancers globally by Sanskritiki at the Odissi International Festival held in Bhubaneswar. Karmakar integrates intensive research with creative thinking to develop her choreographic works. Her international career includes performances in an International Cultural Exchange Program between India and China, where she also conducted workshops. She further propagated Odissi in Europe as the head-member of the International dance company 'Inter Dance Project' in Austria, led by Elias Buttinger, performing extensively in cities such as Vienna, Linz, and Salzburg. She has also performed solo at the prestigious International Odissi Dance Festival organized by the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre. Awards & Honours: Odissi Pratibha (2014).
