Ashwini Raghupathy

Ashwini Raghupathy is a Bangalore-based Odissi dancer and the founder of ARPANA, a school for Odissi dance. She is an exponent of classical Odissi, having graduated from the renowned Nrityagram Dance Village. Raghupathy also has over six years of experience with the contemporary dance troupe Nrityarutya and has performed in numerous major festivals across India. She is recognized for her innovative approach to taking classical dance beyond traditional artistic venues into more inclusive spaces and communities, such as Cubbon Park, markets, malls, granite quarries, schools, and bus stands. Her work includes creating the four-and-a-half minute video "Odissi Odyssey" in early 2014, which explored the connection between nava rasa and everyday life. Ashwini Raghupathy is a TEDx speaker, a Limca Record holder, and a member of the International Dance Council, UNESCO. She founded ARPANA in January 2012 with the aim of making dance accessible for individuals to grow holistically, particularly focusing on adult learners.
