Aswathy Srikanth is an accomplished Indian classical dancer, celebrated for her mastery in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, and Kuchipudi. Her artistic journey began at the tender age of four, under the tutelage of her mother, the renowned dancer Smt. Kalamandalam Saraswathy, leading to her first stage performance at just seven years old. She further refined her Mohiniyattam skills with Kalamandalam Leelamma and commenced her specialized Bharatanatyam training under N. Srikanth in 1999. Complementing her dance expertise, Aswathy also possesses formal training in Carnatic music. As a leading exponent of Bharatanatyam, Aswathy Srikanth has carved a significant niche through her compelling solo and collaborative performances. Since 2001, she has regularly performed alongside her husband, N. Srikanth, forming a dynamic duo recognized as one of Bharatanatyam's foremost couples. Their captivating artistry has graced prestigious festivals across India and internationally, with performances in countries such as Malaysia, Norway, UAE, and Reunion Islands. Aswathy's dance is characterized by a unique sensibility, innovative choreographic skills, and an uncompromising adherence to traditional forms. She is also proficient in Nattuvangam, an essential rhythmic accompaniment in classical dance. Beyond her illustrious performing career, Aswathy Srikanth is a dedicated guru and institution head. She plays a vital role in shaping future generations of Bharatanatyam dancers through the Nrityalaya School for Classical Dances in Kozhikode, Kerala. This esteemed institution was founded by her mother, Kalamandalam Saraswathy, and Aswathy, along with N. Srikanth, serves as a cultural consultant and actively passes on their rich legacy to students. Their teaching extends globally, with a strong student base in the USA, where they conduct annual workshops and summer residency programs, and have choreographed numerous dance productions featuring local talents. Aswathy's intellectual depth is further evidenced by her postgraduate degree in English Literature and her lineage as the daughter of the legendary Malayalam writer and Jnanpith awardee M.T. Vasudevan Nair. Her flair for writing, particularly articles on her artistic experiences, adds profound depth to her understanding and interpretation of Natya.
