Bhairavi Venkatesan was born on March 20, 1998, in Chennai, India, into a family deeply rooted in classical dance. Her mother, Shobha Korambil, is an accomplished Kuchipudi artist, and her father, D. Venkatesan, served as a Deputy Director General in the Ministry of Tourism. Bhairavi's initiation into dance began at the tender age of two, performing as 'Baby Krishna' in productions by Sridevi Nrithyalaya. She received her primary Bharatanatyam training under the direct tutelage of her aunt, Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan, and performed her Arangetram on October 23, 2013. Beyond Bharatanatyam, Bhairavi also pursued Kuchipudi, being initiated by the legendary Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam in 2003 and continuing her training under Guru Jaikishore Mosalikanti since 2008. She has showcased her talent in various roles, including Sri Krishna in Guru Mosalikanti's group presentations. Throughout her career, Bhairavi has performed extensively, both as a soloist and as part of groups, across India and internationally. A notable international appearance was representing Sridevi Nrithyalaya at the Cultural festival during the London Olympics in 2012. She is a post-graduate in the History of Fine Arts and holds a 'B' grade artiste status in Chennai Doordarshan. Bhairavi Venkatesan has been recognized with significant accolades, including the "BAL SHREE" award from the Government of India in 2013, the Guru Ellappa Endowment Award from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha in 2014, and the NRITHYA RATHNAKARA AWARD from Griffin College, London, in 2025. Currently, she serves as a Trustee of Sridevi Nrithyalaya, contributing to the institution's legacy while continuing her journey as a performer and teacher.
