Bharathi Avireddy was born and raised in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, India, into a family deeply rooted in classical music, with her mother being a singer and violinist. The youngest of five siblings, she began her journey in Indian classical dance at the age of nine, initially learning Bharatha Natyam from her first Guru, Mrs. Uma Sampath. She further honed her skills in both Bharatha Natyam and Kuchipudi under her current Guru, Mrs. A. Rama Krishna in Visakhapatnam, from whom she has been taking specialized courses since 1998. In 1994, on her 25th birthday, Bharathi Avireddy moved to Germany. Her passion for classical dance led her to not only perform but also to begin teaching in 1997. That same year, she established the “Indische Tanzakademie” in Wiesbaden, which now also operates in Frankfurt. To further promote Indian classical culture, she founded “Varnam - Colours of Classical Indian Culture e.V.” on June 30, 2012, a registered society dedicated to propagating India's rich artistic heritage. Throughout her career, Bharathi Avireddy has been recognized for her contributions to Indian culture abroad. She was honored by the then Prime Minister of India, Mr. Manmohan Singh, in 2006. In June 2014, she received the Arya Bhatta International Award in Bangalore, and she is also a recipient of the Nritya Vidya Ratna award from Sarasalaya, Chennai. She has organized three Ranga Pravesams (debut performances) for eight students, including two German nationals, in 1999, 2004, and 2012, and has performed in various European cities such as Rome and Budapest. Bharathi Avireddy is known for her belief that “Art is Divine and Divinity is love,” and she actively collaborates with other artists, including Brazilian and Odissi dancer Eduardo Laino and Bollywood dancer Preetham Kumar Boda Vittal. Her family, including her sisters Avireddy Ratnamala and Avireddy Vijayasree, and brother Avireddy Satya Vishal, provide musical support for her performances. She aims to enlighten young girls with Indian classical dance and spirituality.
