Kalaimamani Sri Binesh Mahadevan is a highly recognized performing guru and choreographer in Indian classical dance, primarily Bharatanatyam. He received his foundational training in Bharatanatyam under Kalaimamani Smt. Ranganayaki Jayaraman. His artistic repertoire extends beyond Bharatanatyam, as he also trained in other classical forms like Mohiniyattom, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, and Ottamtullal under the mentorship of Sri K R Kurup and other eminent gurus at Noopura. This diverse training has enriched his perspective and perfection in the art. Mahadevan has extensively toured both within India and internationally, presenting numerous solo and group performances. He is the director of Akshaya Arts Academy, an institution he founded in 1992 in Chinmaya Nagar, Chennai, dedicated to propagating Bharatanatyam. The academy celebrated its 25th year silver jubilee in 2017 and its 30th year pearl jubilee in 2022. His commitment to teaching is evident in the fact that he has trained at least 194 disciples, a significant achievement in the field. Notably, he has also worked as a 'creative movement therapist' for over seven years at "Mathur Mandir" and is recognized for successfully training two special children with Down syndrome to perform their arangetram. Binesh Mahadevan currently serves as the Secretary of Abhai and is an active member of Prayathnam.
