Bipul Chandra Das is a distinguished Indian classical dancer and guru, widely recognized for his profound contributions to the Kathak dance form. He is celebrated for his unparalleled mastery and innovative choreography, blending the intricate nuances of both the Jaipur and Lucknow gharanas. Das holds a Diploma from Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, and a Sangeet Alankar from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai, solidifying his strong academic foundation in classical dance. His training under legendary Kathak maestros, including the late Guru Kundanlal Gangani and Padmavibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj, has profoundly shaped his artistic journey and teaching methodology. Bipul Chandra Das is credited as the first Assamese to receive India's National Scholarship for Kathak, marking a significant milestone in his career. He is also the first Assamese Kathak exponent to be honored with the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, which he received in 2024 for his outstanding contributions to Kathak dance. As a dedicated educator, Das founded Mridanga – An Institute of Kathak Dance in Guwahati, where he has nurtured countless students, propagating the rich traditions of Kathak, particularly the Lucknow Gharana style, in Assam. His teaching legacy extends to numerous students both in India and internationally. Beyond his role as a guru, he has also served as a lecturer at the Luit Konwar Rudra Barua State College of Music in Assam. His choreographic works are noted for their fusion of traditional aesthetics with contemporary themes, showcasing profound artistry. His global performances, spanning countries from Russia to the USA, have left an indelible mark on the international dance landscape. Among his other accolades are the Nritya Samrat Pt.
