Chandreyee Mukherjee is a prominent figure in Indian classical dance, specifically known for her contributions to the Manipuri style. She is the founder and creative director of Kriti Manipuri Dance Creations, an initiative she established in the Bay Area, USA, in 2014. The academy's mission is to perform and propagate the classical Indian dance form of Manipuri, focusing on preserving its traditional essence while also exploring contemporary themes and fostering collaborations with other dance forms through workshops, training, and performances. Mukherjee is recognized as a leading choreographer and practitioner of Manipuri dance. In 2022, she served as the Artistic Director of Kriti Manipuri Dance Creations and a lead choreographer for "ONENESS," a collaborative, multidisciplinary dance musical production. This project brought together leading practitioners of six different classical Indian dance styles to explore themes of diversity and convergence. Her expertise extends to the philosophical underpinnings of Manipuri dance. She has been featured in discussions, such as the "Built By Grit" series, where she delved into the philosophy, origins, and lived practice of Manipuri dance, emphasizing its roots in bhakti, restraint, and quiet power. She has also spoken about her personal journey, including growing up immersed in art and lineage, and her return to dance after periods of breaks, motherhood, and career shifts.
