Chandrika V Rao, also known as Chandrika Srinivas, is a distinguished Indian classical dancer and musician, specializing in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music. Hailing from Bangalore, India, she was born to Venkoba Rao and Shyamala. Her artistic journey began at the age of ten with Carnatic music, which she pursued under the tutelage of Guru R.K. Srikantan. Simultaneously, she embarked on learning Bharatanatyam, initially guided by Guru Narmadha and subsequently by Guru Kum. Bhanumathi. Chandrika V Rao completed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram on April 16, 1997. Academically accomplished, she earned her Masters in music in 1996 and in dance in 2000. Throughout her career, Chandrika V Rao has graced numerous prestigious festivals, performing both within India and internationally. Her expertise extends beyond dance to include proficiency in Carnatic music vocal, violin, veena, and mridangam. She has also served as a guest lecturer at the University of Sydney and conducted various workshops, demonstrating her commitment to arts education. Her choreographic works include compositions like “Bhavayami Raghuramam.” In 2000, Chandrika V Rao established the “Naadha-Nrithya” school in Australia, dedicated to promoting Indian performing arts. She further expanded her teaching legacy by founding institutes in San Diego, California, where she imparts knowledge in Carnatic music vocal, Bharatanatyam, violin, veena, and traditional Indian painting. Her dedication to preserving and promoting traditional Indian dance and music globally positions her as a significant figure and a "Ray of hope" for these art forms.
