Her academic foundation in music is robust, having earned her Bachelor of Arts in Indian Music in 1992 and subsequently her Master of Arts in Indian music in 1994, both from the esteemed University of Madras. Over an illustrious career spanning more than twenty-eight years, she has established herself as a leading vocalist, gracing stages across India and in numerous international venues, providing melodic support to countless dance performances. As a distinguished "B High artiste" with All India Radio, Smt. Chitrambari Krishnakumar's artistic versatility extends beyond performance to composition. She has notably scored the music for several significant dance ballets, including "Thiruppugazh," "Soorya-The Sun God," "Arupadai Veedu," and "Thiruvasagam," demonstrating her deep understanding of the narrative and emotional requirements of classical dance. Her exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to the art have garnered her numerous prestigious awards. She was honored with the Best Vocal Support for Dance award from Shri Krishna Gana Sabha and received recognition for her work from the VDS Arts Academy. In 2017, Bharat Kalachar presented her with the esteemed Natya Sangeetha Kala Bharathi Award, acknowledging her musical excellence in the context of dance. Her continued artistic brilliance was further celebrated in 2022 when she was awarded the Gana Kala Vipanchi.
