Chrada Sheoratan is a professional Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and educator based in the Netherlands. Her journey into Indian classical dance began at a young age, where she developed a fascination for the South Indian Bharatanatyam style. She received her initial training from Shakuntala Devi, learning the Kalakshetra bani. In 2001, Chrada Sheoratan successfully completed her dance examination with cum laude honors. Around 2002, her former guru, Shakuntala Devi, entrusted her dance school to Chrada, marking a significant step in her career. Building upon this foundation, Chrada Sheoratan officially founded Dansschool Natyasudha in 2003. The academy, whose name translates to 'pure dance,' is dedicated to advancing and professionalizing Indian dance education in the Netherlands. Natyasudha offers comprehensive training to both beginners and advanced students of various ages, encompassing the theoretical and practical aspects of Bharatanatyam. The curriculum also includes Carnatic vocal, Nattuvangam, and the historical and theoretical foundations of the art form. Chrada Sheoratan is committed to continuous artistic development. She regularly undertakes vocal and dance lessons in India and England to refine her technique and artistry. Furthermore, she actively participates in workshops led by highly respected figures in the Bharatanatyam world, including C.V. Chandrashekar, Leela Samson, and the Dhananjayans, ensuring her teaching and performances remain contemporary and deeply rooted in tradition. She operates as a core teacher at Natya Sudha, providing both private and group instruction from her bases in Utrecht and Almere.
