Debasmita Thakur is a distinguished Bharatanatyam exponent and a senior disciple of Padma Bhushan Guru Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan. She has also performed choreography by Smt. Rama Vaidyanathan. Thakur holds a diploma in dance and a Masters in Public Administration. Her career as a performer includes playing the leading role in "Swachh Bharat," one of her guru's notable productions. She has performed both nationally and internationally alongside her guru, and has assisted Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan in workshops across India and abroad. Debasmita Thakur has also conducted workshops under her guru's guidance at Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Jaipur, and led summer workshops with NDMC for several years. She is the founder of DVIJA – A Confluence of Performing Arts, which was formally launched with an event called "Parampara" in association with Bangiya Samaj, Chittaranjan Park. She is dedicated to the Guru-Shishya Parampara, nurturing her students with the same guidance she received from her gurus. Her students, including those from DVIJA (Gurgaon) and the Bangiya Samaj Bharatanatyam group, have presented choreographed pieces at cultural events. She also performed Nattuvangam for Sowmya Kharbanda. Debasmita Thakur is actively involved in teaching Bharatanatyam, offering classes through platforms like Routes 2 Roots and Virsa India.
