Her comprehensive understanding of Mohiniyattam's history, techniques, and expressions was developed through her training under renowned gurus Gopika Varma and Dr. Neena Prasad. Critics have praised Chakravarthy for her graceful movements, flawless abhinaya (expression), and her ability to fully embody the sensuality and femininity central to Mohiniyattam. She is recognized as an accomplished performer and choreographer of this classical dance form. Beyond her performing career, Deepa Chakravarthy is also an Indologist and an Indian art commentator. She is the founder of Jvala, an immersive experience platform. She contributes a column titled "ARTY AFFAIRS" to The New Indian Express, where she delves into stories of the land, interweaving metaphysics, art, and culture through the lives and works of artists dedicated to oral traditions.
