Dhara Gandhi-Dutta is an accomplished Indian classical dancer, primarily recognized for her expertise in Odissi. She initially explored Indian classical dance through Kuchipudi before dedicating herself to Odissi. Her training in Odissi was under the tutelage of esteemed gurus Daksha Mashruwala and the legendary Padma Vibhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra. Gandhi-Dutta holds Double Masters degrees in French and English Literature from Mumbai University, showcasing her diverse academic background. She is certified by the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya and is an empanelled artist of both the ICCR (Indian Centre For Cultural Resources) and the IWCF (India World Cultural Forum). Throughout her career, Dhara Gandhi-Dutta has garnered significant accolades, including the National Award for Classical Dance 'Shringarmani' and the Swar Sadhana Award in Dance. She has performed extensively, both nationally and internationally, with performances in countries like Brazil and the United States, and at festivals such as the Konark Festival and Raindrops. She leads and trains students through her institution, the Nirmohi Institute of Dance, which is based in Mumbai, India. Her performances are marked by grace and elegance, and she actively engages in educational initiatives, such as demonstrating Odissi to students as part of programs like NCPA Nrityaparichay.
