Divya Hoskere is a vibrant Bharatanatyam artist, choreographer, researcher, and teacher based in Bengaluru, India. Her journey in Bharatanatyam began at the age of five under the tutelage of Guru Sri P. Praveen Kumar at the Chithkala School of Dance, Bengaluru, where she remains one of his foremost disciples. She performed her Rangapravesha at the age of ten, earning acclaim from senior artists. Hoskere is a graded artist of Doordarshan and a recipient of the "Scholarship to Young Artists" from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2018-19). Beyond her performance career, Divya Hoskere is deeply engaged in academic pursuits. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication Design from PES University and a Master's degree in Performing Arts (Bharatanatyam) from Jain University, Bengaluru. Currently, she is a PhD scholar at the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), IISc Campus, Bengaluru, where she is pursuing research in Dance and Indian Aesthetics, focusing on defining a śāstric framework for classical dance. She was awarded the Junior Research Fellowship by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in Performing Arts (Dance) in 2021 or 2022. Hoskere has performed extensively as a soloist across India and internationally, including with her guru in Italy and Romania. Her performances have been critically acclaimed. She founded Kalāmārga, a classical dance institute in Bengaluru, to impart the tradition of Bharatanatyam. Additionally, Divya is trained in traditional string puppetry of Karnataka, having learned for over 18 years under her mother, Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Smt. Anupama Hoskere, at the Dhaatu Puppet Theater. She has conceptualized and choreographed a puppet and dance production, "Sutradhari Vaidharbi," and has performed as both a dancer and puppeteer worldwide. She was named one of the "Cultural Stars to Look Forward to in 2022" by The New Indian Express.
