Divya Krishnan has dedicated over 14 years to the art form of Bharatanatyam, as of 2010. Her training includes studies with noted artists in India, such as A. Janardhanan, a former principal of the Kalakshetra Foundation, and Smt. Shyamala Balan of the Swaralaya Dance Academy in Chennai. She furthered her dance education under Dr. Nalini Rau, who is the founder and director of the Natya Anubhava Academy of Dance in New York. Dr. Rau herself is a disciple of the illustrious Guru Kalaimamani Dakshinamoorthy Pillai of Delhi and has studied with Gurus U. S. Krishna Rao and Chandrabhaga Devi. Divya Krishnan also holds an engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania and maintains a career in finance. Alongside Swathi Krishnan, she co-founded the organization Kaladhaara, through which they aim to promote Bharatanatyam by providing exposure, education, and experience to the community.
