Divya Narayanan is a highly accomplished Indian classical dancer, teacher, choreographer, and institution head with over 35 years of expertise in various traditional Indian classical and folk dance forms. Born and raised in Delhi, India, she began her Bharatanatyam training at the tender age of four. She received her foundational training in Bharatanatyam from Guru Aruna Subramaniam and pursued higher studies under Guru V. Krishnamoorthi, adhering to Kalakshetra traditions. Narayanan also received training in Kuchipudi from Guru V. Krishnamoorthi and in Mohiniyattom from Kalamandalam Seema Venugopal. She is also proficient in Kathakali, folk dances of India, and Bollywood dances. Narayanan was recognized as a professional classical dancer in India and achieved the status of a Government of India panel graded artist in Doordarshan, India's national television channel. She was a recipient of a Government of India scholarship for Bharatanatyam and a Spic Macay scholarship for Mohiniyattom. In India, she worked as a dance teacher and choreographer at Montfort Senior Secondary School, where she trained over a thousand students. She also founded and directed her own institution, "Divyanjali Institute of Classical Dances," for seven years, imparting specialized training to more than 200 students. After moving to the United States in 2001 and settling in Utah in 2007, Divya Narayanan established the "Divya School of Dance." This academy, founded around 2008, has since trained over 100 students and regularly presents performances at various cultural organizations, temples, universities, and public functions across Utah. She also conducts masterclasses and workshops in schools and universities. Her dedication lies in fostering Indian dance and passing on its traditions to the next generation.
