Dr. Malini Krishnamurthi is a distinguished exponent, performer, teacher, guru, choreographer, and institution head in the field of Bharatanatyam, based in California, USA. She is the Artistic Director of the Natyanjali School of Dance, which operates in West Covina, Upland, and Chino Hills. Dr. Krishnamurthi was initiated into Bharatanatyam at an early age and underwent intensive training for several decades under the tutelage of Kalaimamani Guru Sri. Kalyanasundaram of the renowned Sri Rajarajeshwari Bharata Natyam Kala Mandir in Bombay, India. In addition to her dance training, she also received formal education in classical Carnatic music for several decades. With a career spanning over four decades, Dr. Malini Krishnamurthi has been teaching Bharatanatyam in the United States for 42 years, starting around 1984. She is recognized as an acclaimed performer, having presented numerous noteworthy performances across the U.S., India, and Europe. Her expertise extends to choreography, where she is regarded as a superb creator of dance pieces. As an exceptional and meticulous teacher, she has successfully guided many young students, transforming them into passionate and skilled dancers, with her students serving as a testament to her teaching abilities. In recognition of her significant contributions to the local community, the Hindu Temple Society of Southern California bestowed upon her the esteemed title of 'Asthaana Vidushi,' signifying a 'community's scholar.' Beyond her profound dedication to dance, Dr. Krishnamurthi is also an academician, holding a position as a professor of Management Information Systems in the Steven G. Mihaylo College of Business and Economics at the California State University at Fullerton.
