Eswary Sriram is a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and teacher with over two decades of experience in the classical arts. Her journey in dance began at the age of five in Malaysia, where she received initial training under Guru Smt Indira Manickam. By the age of ten, she had performed her Salangai Poojai, marking an early milestone in her artistic development. Her pursuit of excellence led her to India, where she trained in the Gurukulam tradition under the legendary Guru Padmashri Adyar K Lakshman. During this period, she completed her Arangetram and performed extensively in Chennai. She continued her advanced training under Padmashri Adyar K Lakshman, further refining her technique, expression, and depth in the art form. Eswary Sriram also trained in Nattuvangam under Mridangam Vidwan Shri RamShankar Babu, enhancing her command over rhythm and choreography. In 2013, Eswary founded Tatya Performing Arts with the aim of preserving and promoting traditional Bharatanatyam. After several successful years in Missouri, the school is now based in McKinney, Texas, where it provides students with a strong foundation in both the practical and theoretical aspects of Bharatanatyam. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes a holistic approach, balancing technique, expression (abhinaya), and rhythmic precision, and students receive training in both dance and Nattuvangam. Eswary remains committed to lifelong learning, continuing her training under Guru Jayanti Subramaniam and participating in workshops with eminent artists such as Dr. Divyasena, Sri Surya Narayanamurthy, and Smt. Priyadarshini Govind. Awards & Honours: Grant from the Missouri Folk Arts Program under the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program (TAAP), McKinney Arts Commission Project Outreach Grant (2025), Panelist for the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program (TAAP) (2026).
