🪔 About

Gayathri Ram, a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and cultural ambassador, hails from Chennai, India. Her profound connection with Bharatanatyam began in her early childhood in Chennai, where she received traditional training, establishing a strong foundation in nritta (rhythm), abhinaya (expression), and natya (storytelling). After relocating to the United States, she continued her dance journey under the expert guidance of Guru Smt. Radhika Ganesh, who mentored her through her arangetram, a significant milestone marking her formal entry into classical performance. Gayathri further honed her artistry with esteemed masters, including Kalaimamani Shri Madurai R. Muralidaran, a legendary composer and choreographer, and Dr. Lakshmi Ramaswamy, an acclaimed exponent known for her scholarly and aesthetic depth. She also holds an academic distinction with a certificate in Abhinaya from J. Jayalalithaa University in Tamil Nadu. Gayathri Ram is a Guinness World Record holder for her participation in the largest global performance of “Tamil Annai Varnam,” a testament to her dedication to preserving Tamil heritage through dance. Her extensive repertoire encompasses a wide array of classical and thematic works, featuring prominent roles in celebrated dance dramas such as Nalam Nalam Thirunalam, Sivagamiyin Sabadam, Nauka Charitram, and Rangoli. She has also collaborated closely with Kalaimamani Shri Madurai R. Muralidaran in staging major dance productions. As an educator, Gayathri is the Founder and Artistic Director of Agni Nritya Academy, based in Frisco, Texas. Through her academy, she has mentored numerous students, successfully guiding several through their arangetram journeys and instilling in them a deep sense of cultural pride, discipline, and artistry. She also performs Nattuvangam for her students' performances. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Gayathri holds a master's degree in biology from India and a master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.
