Smt. Gayatri Ramaratnam is a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and the Artistic Director of Silambam School of Dance. She received her extensive training under the tutelage of two eminent gurus: Padmabhusan Vidwan Sri Madurai N. Krishnan and Padmasri Dr. Sudharani Raghupathy. For over three decades, she has been associated with Shree Bharatalaya in Chennai, where she both learned and taught the classical dance form. Her career as a performer includes numerous dance ballets and solo performances across Tamil Nadu and Bangalore, showcasing her profound understanding and mastery of Bharatanatyam. Gayatri Ramaratnam is also recognized as a “B”-grade artist of Doordarshan, New Delhi, a testament to her artistic merit. She is the daughter of Dr. S. Ramaratnam, who holds the title of "Natya Nataka kala Pravinah." As the Center head of Silambam Dance School in Bangalore, she leads an institution dedicated to imparting holistic dance education, encompassing Bharatanatyam theory, cultural history, basic Indian classical music, fitness, and rigorous technique refinement. Silambam, an arts organization, also operates as a premier dance school in the Hyderabad area and has various branches globally, aiming to cultivate artistically sensitive and culturally refined individuals.
