Guru Geetha Sharma is a prominent figure in Indian classical dance, specifically Bharatanatyam, and the director of the esteemed Geetha Dance Centre in Pune, India. The institution was founded in 1970 by her late father, K.V. Subramanian. Geetha Sharma initially commenced her teaching career in Mumbai, conducting Bharatanatyam classes until 1975. Following her marriage, she relocated and established her teaching practice in Pune, where the Geetha Dance Centre has since flourished. The center celebrated its silver jubilee in 1995, marking 25 years of dedicated service to classical dance education. Over more than four decades, the Geetha Dance Centre has become well-known in Pune, particularly in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, for its excellence in classical dance training. Under Guru Geetha Sharma's guidance, numerous students have performed their Arangetram and continue to give performances at various venues. The institution currently trains approximately 200 students. Her teaching legacy extends through her daughters and senior students who have also become dance educators. Her eldest daughter, Sow. Mrudula Gaikwad, conducts classes in Pune, while her second daughter, Sow. Shwetha Bhaskar Iyer, teaches in Houston, U.S.A. Additionally, her senior-most student, Sow. Radhika Adhikari, who performed one of the institution's first Arangetrams alongside Geetha's eldest daughter, also runs classes in California, U.S.A.
