Guru Smt. Leela Ramesh Tanjorkar is a prominent figure in Bharatanatyam, born in 1951 in Trichurapally (Trichy), Tamil Nadu, India, into a musical family. From her childhood, she showed a keen interest in art and music, actively participating in dramas and musical recitals during her school and college years. After completing her B.Sc. degree, she married Guru Shri Ramesh Kubernath Tanjorkar. She received advanced training in Bharatanatyam under the guidance of her father-in-law, the legendary Guru Shri Kubernath Tanjorkar. Smt. Leela Ramesh Tanjorkar plays a crucial role in the Tanjore Nritya Shala and the Tanjore Dance Music & Art Research Centre, institutions established by her father-in-law in Vadodara, Gujarat. She is responsible for the overall success of programs and the efficient running of all branches of Tanjore Nritya Shala. She also serves as a Taalam Accompaniment in the institute's performances. Following the demise of Guru Shri Kubernath Tanjorkar, she, along with her husband and sons, continues to lead these institutions, upholding the classical Tanjore Nritya Gharana. Her career has involved extensive travel both within India and internationally, accompanying her husband and dance troupe for various performances. These tours have included cities in Tamil Nadu like Chidambaram, Kumbakonam, Tirunallaru, Tanjore, and Nagapattinam, as well as Chandigarh. Internationally, she has performed in Greece, Turkey, Malaysia, Thailand, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, and Austria. The Tanjore Performing Group, comprising students from Vadodara and Silvassa, notably won the 1st prize in the International Dance Category in Vienna, Austria.
