🪔 About

Harshita Sharma Dadheech is a distinguished Kathak artiste, educator, and torchbearer of the esteemed Dadheech legacy. She commenced her Kathak training at a young age under the tutelage of K. L. Bhatt and Bina Thakur, subsequently completing her Diploma Honours in Kathak from the prestigious Kathak Kendra in Delhi. Her advanced training continues in the traditional guru-shishya parampara under her revered in-laws, Dr. Puru Dadheech and Dr. Vibha Dadheech, who are celebrated figures in the Kathak world and creators of the distinct Dadheech Shaili. Academically, Harshita holds a diploma in Natyashastra (with special reference to Kathak) from Bharata College of Fine Arts & Culture, Mumbai, and a diploma in Kathak Shastra from Kathak Darpan Foundation, Mumbai. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Kathak from Sri Sri University in Cuttack. She is also a Doordarshan Graded Artist, a University Gold Medalist (for her Bachelor of Performing Arts in 2021, awarded in 2023), and qualified the NTA UGC NET in Performing Arts in 2023. As a performer, Harshita is known for her elegant movements, vivid expressions, and mastery of complex rhythmic patterns. She has performed extensively across India at various national-level stages, including the Republic Day Parade 2023 at Kartavya Path, New Delhi. She is also an experimental artist within the boundaries of tradition, presenting rare and largely unknown forms of Kathak. Her recent solo production, "Panchkanya," conceptualized and scripted by Dr. Puru Dadheech, premiered in September 2025, showcasing her abhinaya finesse and technical virtuosity in the Dadheech Shaili. Harshita is an instructor at the Natavari Kathak Nritya Academy in Indore, the main center for the Dadheech family's Kathak activities. She also founded "Kathak by Harshita" and serves as a respected cultural adjudicator for national and international dance festivals and competitions. Her dedication lies in preserving, innovating, and transmitting the Kathak tradition to future generations.
