Janane Sethunarayanan is a prominent Bharatanatyam exponent, performer, and teacher based in Chennai, India. She holds an engineering degree in Bio-Technology and a management graduate degree, but transitioned from a corporate career to pursue Bharatanatyam professionally, considering it her true calling. With over 20 years of experience in the art form, she has performed in over 300 shows across India and the USA. Janane is recognized as a Doordarshan certified A-grade artist and is particularly acclaimed for her 'Abhinaya' (expressive interpretation). She has graced prestigious stages, including The Music Academy's HCL Concert series in February 2025, where her nuanced portrayals, dynamic adavus, and vibrant footwork were lauded. Her performances have also been featured at the India Habitat Centre in Delhi. Janane is the founder of Sarvada Arts, an institution dedicated to creating a holistic environment for learning and practicing Bharatanatyam. Through Sarvada Arts, she offers a comprehensive curriculum, 'NRITHYA SIKSHANA', which includes dance theory, Thalam & Nattuvangam, yoga for dance, and fitness training. She teaches students of various backgrounds and age groups both in Chennai and through online platforms for international students. Beyond her performances and teaching, Janane has also contributed to charitable initiatives, participating in 'Healing through Learning' Bharatanatyam workshops in 2020 to raise funds for ABHAI's 'Artists for Artists' Welfare Fund.
