Jhanvi Ambalia is an Ahmedabad-based Kuchipudi dancer, recognized for her vivacious performances and rhythmic precision. She is a dedicated disciple of the esteemed Kuchipudi and Bharata Natyam exponent, Guru Smita Shastri, who also directs the Nartan School of Classical Dances. Ambalia has been passionately involved with Kuchipudi for over nine years, demonstrating a profound commitment to the art form and a natural command over expressions that makes her performances outstanding. Her formal debut, the Arangetram, took place in 2021, marking a significant milestone in her artistic journey. Since then, Jhanvi Ambalia has actively performed at numerous prestigious events and festivals across India and internationally. In December 2023, she was notably among the youngest participants at the 10th Girnar Festival of Music and Dance in Junagadh, Gujarat. During this festival, she captivated audiences with her renditions of Manduka Sabdam and Balalgopala Tarangam, showcasing her skill by dancing on the rim of a brass plate with remarkable accuracy and winning appreciation from the audience. Ambalia's career highlights include performing in the presence of prominent political figures such as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnath. Her talent has also been acknowledged through various competitive successes, where she has secured first ranks in events like Kala Mahakumbh, the International Multi Lingual Cultural Festival in Cuttack, World Dance Day organized by NCN Kalashetram, the Bangkok International Youth Festival, and the Bhagirath Utsav. Further testament to her emerging artistry, Jhanvi Ambalia has received the Special Jury Award from the Thillana School of Music and Dance in New Delhi. Her guru, Smita Shastri, has expressed happiness and satisfaction in seeing Jhanvi and other disciples excel in competitions, wishing them continued passion and zeal in promoting Indian classical arts globally.
