Kalamandalam Rajasekharan is a distinguished Kathakali artist, born on November 25, 1954. His parents are P.N. Madhava Kurup and Thankamma Amma. After completing his 9th standard, he pursued a Diploma in Kathakali vesham (makeup and costume) at Kerala Kalamandalam from 1969 to 1975. During his training, he was guided by esteemed gurus such as Madavoor Vasudevan Nair, Ozhur Kochugovinda Pilla, and Karthikappally Kuttappa Panicker. Rajasekharan specializes in "Minukku" (Sthree) characters, demonstrating expertise in portraying female roles in Kathakali. He has held significant administrative positions within Kerala Kalamandalam, where he currently serves as the Vice-Principal. His contributions to the art form extend to authorship, having written books on Kathakali, including "Kathakali Thekkan Chitta" and "Kathakaliyil Sthree Kathapathrangal" (Kathakali Female Characters). His wife, Kalamandalam Shailaja, is also a teacher at Kerala Kalamandalam. Awards & Honours: Central Govt. Cultural Dept Senior Fellowship, A.D.
