Soumya Sreekumar is an accomplished Indian classical dancer and educator, whose artistic journey began at the age of six under the tutelage of Kalamandalam Usharani. She received intensive training in Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam at the prestigious Kerala Kalamandalam, one of India's foremost institutions for classical arts. Her comprehensive education at Kalamandalam included practical performance alongside the study of Indian aesthetics, literature, and the theoretical principles of classical dance, which profoundly shaped her artistic vision. Soumya Sreekumar commenced her teaching career at Aranmula Vinjana Vedi, where she imparted knowledge to students from diverse backgrounds. She subsequently established her own dance institution in Aranmula, fostering a creative environment rooted in tradition. Expanding her artistic reach internationally, she served for over a decade as a performer and instructor at Kalabhavan Bahrain. Later, she founded the Abhyaas Arts Centre in Bahrain, an institution dedicated to the promotion of Indian classical and folk arts. Through decades of dedication, Soumya Sreekumar continues to inspire aspiring dancers across generations, preserving India's rich artistic traditions and fostering cultural connections globally through her performances, education, and mentorship.
