Kalamandalam Surendran, born on December 8, 1952, is a distinguished Kathakali musician from Kerala, India. He received his foundational training in Kathakali Music for six years at the prestigious Kerala Kalamandalam after completing his SSLC. During his formative years, he had the privilege of learning under eminent artists such as Kalamandalam Gangadharan, Kalamandalam Sivaraman Nair, Kalamandalam Ramankutty Varrier, and Kalamandalam Neelakandhan Nambeesan. Surendran commenced his career as a Kathakali musician in 1974 and has since become recognized as one of Kerala's most senior artists, making significant contributions to the Kathakali art form. He is currently associated with the Kalabharathi Kathakali Academy in Pakalkkuri. His dedication and artistry have been acknowledged with several accolades, including the Pathanamthitta Kathakali Club Award, the Navayikulam Aswadaka Sangham Fellowship, and the inaugural Thakazhi Kuttan Pillai Smriti - KAS Award from the Kathakali Aswadaka Sangham, Mavelikara, which he received in 2025. He is married to Sobhana and has a son, Sangeeth S. Nath, and a daughter, Swathi S. Nath.
