Kankana Singh is a leading practitioner of Classical Manipuri Dance. She is the granddaughter and disciple of Guru Bipin Singh and Guru Kalavati Devi. Kankana Singh also received her initial dance education from Baba Kunju Singh and Ma Singh. She is a senior student of Manipuri Nartanalaya and continues her dance training under Guru Kalavati Devi and Smt. Bimbavati Devi. Kankana Singh serves as the Creative Director of Nartanangan. Her artistic vision aims to integrate traditional Manipuri dance practices with a contemporary outlook. She performs classical Manipuri dance, showcasing both its lyrical, soft, and graceful 'lasya' aspect and its vigorous and forceful 'tandav' style, which includes 'pung cholom' performances. Her repertoire includes pieces like 'Kaliya Daman', which emphasizes the Tandava aspect, 'Krishna Roop Varnan', focusing on the Lasya aspect, and 'Ghana Baari Prabandha'.
