Kartika Singh is a distinguished Indian classical Kathak danseuse and a filmmaker, based in Gurugram, India. She commenced her Kathak training at the age of two, receiving guidance from the revered Guru Padmashri Shovana Narayan. Singh further honed her skills, earning a diploma from the prestigious Kathak Kendra, the National Institute of Kathak in Delhi, under the tutelage of Guru Rajendra Gangani. She also holds a senior diploma from the Prayag Sangeet Samiti in Allahabad. Throughout her career, Kartika Singh has graced numerous illustrious festivals across India, including those in Khajuraho, Konark, Kurukshetra, Benares, Vrindavan, Lucknow, Tirupati, Bangalore, and Agra. Her international performances have seen her represent India in countries such as the United States of America, Morocco, Singapore, Italy, Chile, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Taiwan. She performed at the Opening Ceremony of the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships in New Delhi in 2023 with her troupe, Kathak Baikunth. Singh has also performed alongside her guru, Padmashri Shovana Narayan, in events like Natya Tarangini's Guru Shishya Parampara Series. Beyond her dance career, Kartika Singh is a prolific filmmaker. She established Eastern Monk Productions Pvt. Ltd. in 2016, focusing on creating impactful video content. Her documentaries have garnered international recognition; "Silent Screams – Freedom to Love" received a Bronze World Medal, and "Undercover Asia – Girls for Sale" was awarded a Gold World Medal for 'best investigative documentary' at the New York International Film and Television Awards. She has also been instrumental in creating content for channels like National Geographic, Star World, Zee, and TLC. Singh is also a co-founder of 'Continuing Tradition,' an annual festival celebrating the legacy of her guru, Shovana Narayan.
