Komal Gangani is an emerging Kathak dancer and teacher, representing the esteemed Jaipur gharana. Born into a family deeply rooted in Kathak, she is the daughter and disciple of the late Pandit Parveen Gangani, an internationally acclaimed doyen of the art form. Komal began her formal training at the tender age of eight under the tutelage of her father, inheriting a rich legacy of Kathak by birth. She further solidified her foundational knowledge by completing her Visharad in Kathak from Prayag Sangeet Samiti. Breaking tradition, Komal is noted as the first girl in her family to pursue Kathak professionally, a significant step in carrying forward her family's artistic heritage. Her career as a performer has seen her grace stages both nationally within India and internationally, including her debut performance in Moscow, Russia. She has also accompanied her father on numerous national and international assignments, gaining invaluable experience from a young age. Based in New Delhi, India, Komal Gangani is not only a performer but also a dedicated educator. She leads her own institute, Kathak Disha, where she imparts her knowledge and passion for Kathak to the next generation of dancers. With approximately 6 to 10 years of teaching experience, she is actively contributing to the propagation of the Jaipur gharana style. Komal is widely regarded as a promising talent, described by sources as a "future Kathak exponent in the making" and a "star in the making," poised to achieve greater heights in the world of Indian classical dance. She has also performed at events such as the New York Kathak Festival in March 2022.
