Kusum Sharma is the artistic director and founder of Shri Natraj School of Dance, established in 2005 in Houston, USA. She transitioned from an IT career in 2005 to dedicate herself to promoting Indian classical and folk dance forms. The school, which has grown to six branches and over 100 students in Houston, focuses on Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Indian Folk dance. Sharma is recognized for her exemplary original mythological and contemporary dance dramas, which include productions such as 'Ram leela', 'Durga', 'Krishna leela', 'Mughal-e-Azam', 'Meera', and 'Amrapali'. Her work has received rave reviews. In 2014, she collaborated with the Houston Grand Opera on "River of Light," where she enacted a mini-Ramleela and portrayed the role of Sita. Kusum Sharma is also the founder of the non-profit organization Kalakriti Performing Arts, which aims to promote dance art forms and Indian culture in the USA. She has been featured in community newspapers and on Fox 26 Houston TV channel.
