Lakshmi Sriraman is an accomplished Bharatanatyam artist, educator, choreographer, and arts advocate, originally from India and now based in Lexington, Kentucky, USA. She holds a Master's degree in Mathematics and an MBA from the University of Texas at El Paso, having transitioned to a full-time career in Bharatanatyam after a decade as a management consultant. Sriraman received extensive Bharatanatyam training from Smt. Sujatha Ramalingam and Smt. Padmaja Kelam, and has been mentored for over a decade by Padmashri Priyadarsini Govind, one of the world's leading Bharatanatyam performing artists. Her performances encompass traditional Bharatanatyam repertoire and innovative productions that address contemporary social issues. She is also trained in South Indian Contemporary Theater, Therukkoothu, and South Indian Folk Art Traditions. As an educator, Lakshmi Sriraman founded the Shree School of Dance in Lexington, Kentucky, where she mentors students through their dance journeys. She has trained hundreds of students, some of whom have won national and state-level competitions, including the Young Arts Award. Sriraman is recognized for her ability to weave stories through the precise movements of Bharatanatyam, captivating audiences across the U.S. She is also a multidisciplinary artist, recognized as a Kentucky Crafted Artist, and creates visual art inspired by Indian and Aboriginal traditions.
