Lanka Annapurna is a renowned Indian classical dancer specializing in Kuchipudi. She commenced her dance training at a young age, dedicating herself to the art form. Throughout her career, she performed extensively across India, earning significant appreciation from prominent figures in the dance world. A testament to her unwavering dedication, Annapurna continued her performing career even after losing a leg in an accident, successfully presenting over 200 shows with the aid of a Jaipur foot. She also served as a dance teacher, imparting her knowledge and passion to students, before her retirement in 2006. In 2019, reports indicated that she was suffering from paralysis and facing financial difficulties while residing in Satyanarayanapuram, Vijayawada. She is recognized as a "famous Kuchipudi Dancer" and is often referred to as "Natya Mayuri," a descriptive title meaning "dance peacock" or "dance queen". Her contributions to Kuchipudi are further highlighted by her inclusion among the notable female performers of the style who emerged post-1960s.
