🪔 About
Guru Mr. Madhusudan Rao is a highly skilled musician and percussionist, recognized for his profound expertise in Carnatic music and mridangam. He plays a pivotal role in supporting Bharatha Darshana (School of Indian Classical Dance & Music), an esteemed academy where he contributes his musical and percussion knowledge. Madhusudan Rao was introduced to the art form at a very young age, mastering the intricate nuances of Carnatic music. He received his training in Carnatic vocal music under the tutelage of Vid Ramachandra Rao and honed his mridangam skills under Vid A V Anand. Bharatha Darshana, co-directed by his wife, Guru Mrs. Soujanya Madhusudan, was originally founded in Chennai, India, in 1988 by his mother-in-law, Guru Smt. Nagamani Srinivasa Rao, affectionately known as "Mani Akka" by her students globally. The institution is dedicated to preserving and imparting the sacred art of Bharatanatyam in its pristine purity, specifically the world-renowned Kalakshetra style. Guru Smt. Nagamani Srinivasa Rao herself trained with her brother, the legendary Bharatanatyam Guru Padmashri Adyar K Lakshman, who was a direct disciple of Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale, the founder of Kalakshetra. The academy has a significant international presence, with branches in Cumming, Georgia, and Houston, Texas, in the USA, as well as in Bengaluru, India. Bharatha Darshana also extends its reach through online training to students worldwide. The curriculum includes Bharatanatyam, Carnatic Vocal, and Mridangam classes. Madhusudan Rao's musical contributions are fundamental to the academy's comprehensive approach to Indian classical arts, ensuring that dance performances are accompanied by authentic and expertly rendered music and rhythm. His work helps uphold the legacy of the institution and its commitment to classical Indian dance and music education.
