Dr. Malati Agneswaran is a prominent figure in Indian classical dance, primarily associated with Bharatanatyam, and holds significant academic and administrative positions in the field. She serves as the Head of Department at Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya, an institution under the management of the Nalanda Dance Research Centre in Mumbai, India. Her involvement extends to curriculum development and academic governance, as she is a member of the Ad-hoc Board of Studies in Dance at Mumbai University and an advisory committee member for inter-collegiate university competitions within the Department of Students Welfare, Mumbai University. Dr. Agneswaran also acts as an expert on the Doctoral Committee for Ph.D. students in Dance at Bharathidasan University. Her contributions to dance education include co-authoring the "Handbook on Dance Terminology" in 1992, published by the Nalanda Dance Research Centre. She has also penned an article on "Choreographic Content". Dr. Agneswaran is actively involved in pedagogical activities, having conducted workshops focusing on "Abhinaya and Pure dance aspects of Bharata Natyam". She regularly participates in reviewing and updating the syllabus for various dance courses at Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya, working alongside other institutional heads.
